Are kidney problems linked to diabetes?

i have scarring on my left kidney, which has always made me ill in the past. i get frequent water infections and it can be quite painful.

yesterday i started feeling rather sick, but it didn't feel like a water infection. when i typed in my symptoms, web pages for diabetes showed up.

so are kidney problems linked to diabetes, because i always thought diabetes was linked to the pancreas.

thanks xx.

Are kidney problems linked to diabetes?
Diabetes (elevated blood sugar) can cause all sorts of nasty problems if left uncontrolled. When in doubt, check it out. A blood glucose test is easy to do. Just see your doctor. The sooner you find out, the sooner you can start treatment and feel better.

There are different causes for diabetes. It's not necessarily failure of the pancreas. In my particular case, it's insulin resistance (type 2 diabetes). As long as I eat healthy and stay active, I have ample insulin to take care of business.
Reply:Diabetes is the leading cause of end-stage kidney disease worldwide, an illness that requires either kidney dialysis treatments or a kidney transplant for survival.
Reply:Won't go into details...........Kidneys clean the blood....Diabetes is a blood disorder.....both are related so the answer is YES.
Reply:yes they are. i was a diabetic for over 25 years due to my lack of control of my blood levels i had total kidney failure and had to go on dialysis and get on the transplant list. i waited 15 months and received my double transplant and i am no longer a diabetic. high blood pressure can also effect your kidneys and your eyes are directly effected by your kidneys also.
