Quicken Software question- How to get rid of a linked account?

Ive been a long term user of Quicken in spite of its high frustration level. I have a linked account for stock trading that is linked to to my cash (checking) account.

I dont need all the detail in the linked securies account and would like to delete it but know it is tightly integrated with the primary account. If I do this, I would just plug the ins and outs of the cash effects for the stock transactions. All I really want to do is manage my check book. While I have tons of history associated with this linked account its really worthless as I dont try to keep track of capital gains etc and just take the defaults, dont record shorts etc.

Can anyone give me an idea how to delete this linked account witout unexpected consequences?

When I look at all the history I am very nervous in doing this. Im fairly skilled at quicken but dont need all the rigor they demand in setting up such an account.

you are right, it is a big scary monster... what i'd do is save that info, (back it up), and try erasing what you need to... if that doesn't work you should be able to use what you backed up...
