Printer linked to a parallel zip drive. Can't start print spooler, error23:data error(cyclic redundancy check)

Hi, everyone.

I have xp linked with a hp4250N printer via a parallel zip iomega 250. It froze up a few times after saving data to the zip or in printing. Finally, the xp crashed. I restored the registry to default and brought it back but the zip and printer is gone. I replace the zip with a usb zip and hooked up the printer directly to the pc. But I can not add printer and got a message when I tried to start the spooler service: " Can't start print spooler, error23:data error(cyclic redundancy check)". I also tried to clean up with the spooler files and reload the printer but I can not add printer. I checked and found RPC services is running fine and has been registered as dependent service for the spooler service. Any one has any ideas?

Thanks,

Eastar

Yup ...

Click Start and Go to RUN ...Type Services.msc and press Ok

Look For Print spooler on the rt pane......

Make sure the service status : is Started and the startup type is automatic...if not restart the service and make the startup type as automatic....if it does not work do the following steps....

1. Click the Start button on the desktop

2. Click Run

3. Type in REGEDIT

4. Click on HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE

5. Click on System

6. Click on Current Control Set

7. Click on Services

8. Click on Spooler

9. Click on Depend On Service on the right hand side

10. This should open a Edit Binary Value window

11. Delete the rows corresponding to LexBces only and then select OK

12. Reboot the PC

Hope this will resolve the issue.....
