Intelligence and hair color linked?

well, i read somewhere that the genetics that determine hair color can also influence intelligence, so, could blonde hair possibly be linked to lower intelligence, or is this just hype?

Lemme hear your thoughts!

Note that i am not leaning either way in the argument, my opinion is not important in this issue, i am wishing to see what you think

Intelligence and hair color linked?
Sure. Try Clairol, maybe Nice N'Easy or Natural Instincts...my personal favorite is Feria - it costs a little more, but you're worth it!

Tip Of the Day:

A persons haircolour changes throughout their lifetime. Some babies are born with blond hair, then it changes to, say, brown hair. At a certain age the hair will become grey. People who, lets say had very dark (black) hair when they were younger may find that it has changed from black to dark brown; the person's hair may become salt-and-pepper, and grey after that.

So what age are you talking about? Please explain.

Oh, and ps: there is absolutely not a shred of scientific evidence in support of you claim.

Education in Scandinavian countries are superior to the American school system. Having received a better education is why they are Scandinavians are more knowlegable, (what you call '"smarter"); not the colour of their skin, their eye colour , or the the colour of their hair at any point in time.
Reply:Nope I don't think so at all. I am not stupid and I have quite a few qualifications yet I am a NATURAL BLOND!

Also a lot of 'blond' people aren't actually real blond, just bleached! ;-)
Reply:Obviously not true. Any possibility that the article was in a third rate magazine?
Reply:I am a natural blond and hold a doctorate in medicine, am in my early thirties and already lead a research group in a large European lab in a language that is not my maternal -one of the youngest recipients of a prominent research award and am quad-lingual...

My boss, a natural blond - was the youngest woman professor appointed at our university and is a leading expert in the world in her field.

My sister, a natural blond, a senior business analyst at a major international telecommunication's company...

Shall I go on or are you willing to reconsider your link between the blonds and the intelligence?
Reply:Genes do influence hair color, and intelligence...but they aren't the same gene, they are different genes, so no...there's no link.
Reply:The codons that determine physical traits are frequently located in different places, so maybe some are near intelligence centers?

or did your source say these areas coded for both?

Could you dig up a link for us?
Reply:Not at all. It simply stems for the fact that in American society, Blondes are considered attractive. As a result of this, they often get a free ride in life, and unlike most people, get by largely due to their looks, thus enabling them to be 'dumb'. Probably also where the stereotype of good looking women being dumb evolved from. Now go to Scandinavia, where almost everyone and their brother is blonde, and you'll find relatively few idiots. All due to socializing.
Reply:What about the Women? What about the many women who Are discriminated against? What are you doing to help them?

What about the turkeys being abused are Tyson at Thanksgiving? What are you doing to help them?

What about the white chickens that are prefered over the colored chickens.

Some people think that chickens with light feathers are more stupid than chickens with darker feathers. What are you doing about that?
Reply:No i don't think so.
